Týr - Ormurin Langi

Ormurin Langi w wykonaniu fareskiego zespołu Týr

Ormurin Langi (pol. Długa Wstęga) - pochodząca z Wysp Owczych ballada heroiczna (far. kvæði) stworzona przez Jensa Christiana Djurhuusa ok. roku 1830. Pieśń składa się z 86 zwrotek w języku farerskim opisujących historię norwerskiego władcy Olafa Tryggvasona. Tytuł pieśni nawiązuje do należącego do niego statku (w staronordyckim - Ormrinn Langi).

Tło historyczne Edytuj

Svolder, by Otto Sinding

Bitwa pod Svolder na obrazie Otto Sindinga

Pieśń opisuje bitwę morską stoczona we wrześniu 999 lub 1000 roku na Morzu Bałtyckim (w cieśninie Oresund, koło wyspy Svolderoie) pomiędzy siłami króla Norwegów Olafa Tryggvasona a jego przeciwnikami - koalicją szwedzko-duńską. Opis bitwy zachował się w sadze islandzkiego barda Snorriego Sturlusona "Heimskringla".

Pierwsze zwrotki wspominają o zdradzie wspierającego Norwegów jarla Jomswikingów Sigwaldiego. Wycofał on swoich ludzi i wziął udział w walce po stronie koalicji.

Bitwa zakończyła się tzw. skokiem królewskim - Olaf Tryggvason rzucił się do wody. Nie wiadomo do dziś, czy chciał dopłynąć do innych okrętów norweskich czy też popełnić samobójstwo. Skończył się on śmiercią Tryggvason i przesądził o klęsce Norwegów. Od tej chwili nie stanowili już liczącej się w rejonie Morza Bałtyckiego siły.

Wykonania Edytuj

     Nú brast Noregi úr tínum hondum,
     kongurin, harri mín !

 74. Í Harrans hondmítt ríki stendur
     og ikki í Tambarboga;

     Tá fall Úlvur og Herningur
     við øllum dreingjum sínum.

     Nú er tap í hendi;
     leypið í havið, mínir menn,
     her verður ei góður endi !

 85. Kongurin leyp í havi út,
     garpar eftir fylgdu,
